Swiss International Airlines has recommenced flights between Zurich and Hong Kong after suspending much of its global network in the wake of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Swiss is the first airline in the Lufthansa Group to fly a scheduled passenger flight to Hong Kong since the end of March. Lufthansa will recommence flights to the city from Frankfurt at the beginning of July.
Swiss has scheduled two weekly flights in June; departing from Hongkong on Wednesday and Sunday and from Zurich on Tuesday and Saturday. The airline will operate the route with its flagship Boeing 777-300 with a cabin configuration that offers customers first, business and economy class.

“We are more than happy being able to connect Hongkong with Europe again,” says Veli Polat, head of Lufthansa Group Sales for mainland China and Hongkong. “It is the first step of what hopefully will be a return to normalcy for Swiss, our Lufthansa Group Airlines, and aviation in general. In doing this we will continue to be committed to upholding the highest hygienic and safety standards for the health and the well-being of our customers.”
Swiss has elevated its standards of cleanliness by implementing a number of additional safety and hygienic measures, allowing business travellers to fly free of worries during these extraordinary times. These measures, along with others, were developed in close consultation with leading experts, including the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health as well as Swiss and Lufthansa Group medical services.
