Vietnam has welcomed Axi Plaza, a striking multipurpose convention centre with a design inspired by the country’s ubiquitous coracle boat.

Axi Plaza boasts a spectacular beachfront location, overlooking Long Beach on Vietnam’s scenic Cam Ranh peninsula as well as a host of remarkable facilities including a vast state-of-the-art conference hall, a 360-degree rooftop venue, a stunning outdoor beachfront event space, and about 10,000 sqm dedicated to shopping and dining outlets.

The largest multipurpose convention centre in the region, Axi Plaza marks The Anam Group’s third major development, following the launch of luxurious resorts The Anam Cam Ranh and The Anam Mui Ne in 2017 and 2023 respectively.

Adjacent to 12-hectare The Anam Cam Ranh with 213 rooms, suites and villas, Axi Plaza is breaking new ground in Cam Ranh, which was once renowned as southeast Asia’s greatest deepwater harbor and is now rising as an upscale alternative to nearby Nha Trang.

Vietnam has welcomed Axi Plaza, a striking multipurpose convention centre with a design inspired by the country’s ubiquitous coracle boat.

Billed as affording “meetings above the beach”, the 1,197 sqm conference hall and ballroom area on Axi Plaza’s third floor accommodates up to 1000 people. Dominated by a high ceiling with timber beams fashioned in a fan formation, the hall features a cutting edge 75 sqm LED screen and panoramic vistas encompassing swimming pools, a manicured lawn and the ocean.

Totalling 1,077 sqm, the 360-degree rooftop area on the fifth floor has been designed for receptions and company events and offers sweeping views of Long Beach’s white sands and turquoise waters. A dramatic headland named “Song Lo”, meaning the ‘wave next to the mountain’ in Vietnamese, rises up to the immediate north and west.

The outdoor event space situated between the basket boat-shaped building and the beach is underpinned by the capacious lawn that fronts three picture-perfect swimming pools – one saltwater, one chlorine and a kids pool – supervised by lifeguards.

Situated behind Axi Plaza’s vast second floor entrance and reception area, the 200 sqm Axi Plaza Lounge overlooks the swimming pools and serves Vietnamese fare.

Vietnam has welcomed Axi Plaza, a striking multipurpose convention centre with a design inspired by the country’s ubiquitous coracle boat.

In addition to MICE and indoor and outdoor dining areas on the fourth floor, Axi Plaza’s first floor is dedicated to 46 shops ranging in size from 14sqm to 239sqm.

The exterior of the building is crisscrossed with wood set to last at least 100 years. By night, Axi Plaza changes colours in an elaborate lighting display. At the entrance is a garden updated daily to articulate the day’s date.

“Axi Plaza is a game changer for Cam Ranh and Vietnam’s entire coastline – there’s nothing like it for business and leisure travellers alike,” says The Anam Group’s founder Pham Van Hien. “Building Axi Plaza in the shape of a large thung chai boat, resting beside waters still plied by traditional boats, is a bold and striking way to pay homage to Vietnam with contemporary flair.”

With Axi Plaza Lounge, swimming pools, Long Beach, bathrooms, lockers and more on offer, Axi Plaza is also a convenient solution for travellers who need to check out of their hotels at noon but do not want to wait for hours at Cam Ranh International Airport before their departure flights. Together, Axi Plaza and The Anam Cam Ranh will offer a complete package of services and amenities for bleisure guests in one location.

Vietnam has welcomed Axi Plaza, a striking multipurpose convention centre with a design inspired by the country’s ubiquitous coracle boat.

Various company events, weddings and a forum in cooperation with the local tourism department are already planned at Axi Plaza this year. The Anam Group is exploring organising events such as classical concerts, fashion shows and product launches.

Grand Millennium Auckland has unveiled its ballroom transformation following an extensive makeover.

The new-look ballroom now features a custom-designed lighting sculpture by James Russ Studio, an 11.5m LED wall, and updated interiors.

Adorning the entire ballroom ceiling, The Sky Garden lighting sculpture handcrafted by James Russ Studio featuring over a million meticulously hand-assembled LED lights has transformed the space into a realm of enchantment.

Drawing inspiration from graceful spring blossoms of pink, purple and white wisteria flowers, the lighting sculpture embraces viewers in an immersive experience, adaptable across three dimmable settings.

Grand Millennium Auckland has unveiled its ballroom transformation following an extensive makeover.

According to James Russ Studio, “the Sky Garden stands as a testament to artistry, innovation, and perseverance. As light dances and bounces off every surface – a sensation akin to ‘floating in a glass of champagne’ – it captivates those below.”

The bespoke carpet design is inspired by the Wai o Horotiu stream that charts its course under the city and flows to Te Waitematā harbour. Changing colour tones reflect a widening of the river connecting to a sense of place and grounding the ballroom’s interior and experience to the past, and the city’s future.

The Grand Ballroom is one of the largest ballrooms in Auckland ideal for catering to a 1,000-guest cocktail function, 800 delegates for a theatre style conference or a 550-guest banquet. The 830 sqm space can be separated into four sections for smaller events that are all accessible via the pre-function area with views of Auckland city.

Grand Millennium Auckland has unveiled its ballroom transformation following an extensive makeover.

“We’re ecstatic to showcase what is arguably one of Auckland’s best ballrooms for captivating conferencing, weddings, and gala events,” says Grand Millennium Auckland General Manager James Billing. “The new design is even better than we had envisaged thanks to our refurbishment partners, James Russ Studio and Material Creative who have brought to life our vision, elevating the elegance and grandeur that has always been here.”

The Grand Ballroom refresh forms part of Grand Millennium Auckland’s extensive NZ$30 million (US$17.86 million) makeover across food and beverage venues, meetings and events spaces and guest rooms.

Andaz Macau’s design is a celebration of the city’s heritage and culture. From the distinctive forms of old maritime harbour ships to the vibrant traditions of local Chinese culture, Andaz Macau offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the city’s unique heritage.

The hotel’s rooms and suites are inspired by the surrounding area, with beautiful forest greens and earthy orange hues reflecting the lush green landscapes of the neighborhood. The accommodations range from spacious 375 square feet (35 square meter) guestrooms to expansive 730 square feet (68 square meter) suites. These welcoming spaces are perfectly complemented by carefully chosen local amenities and a minibar stocked with locally sourced eats including biscuits from Macua Yeng Kee Bakery.

The Andaz Lounge on Level 6 is designed with nods to Macau’s rich history, featuring a Portuguese-style mosaic made of mother-of-pearl and stunning couture gowns showcasing the incredible craftsmanship of both Chinese and Portuguese cultures. The overall design of Andaz Kitchen draws inspiration from old Macau shophouses, with further nods to the city’s heritage in the form of Portuguese mosaic tiles on the floor and high wooden archways that reference the city’s maritime history. One of the most striking features of Andaz Kitchen is the “Layers of Tradition” wall, which showcases a curated collection of blue-and-white ceramic plates with hand-painted motifs inspired by Chinese and Portuguese accents commonly seen in Macau.

With 700 rooms and suites and world-class meeting facilities, the new Andaz Macau has opened at Galaxy Macau.

As Meliá Hotels International continues to expand its presence in Vietnam, the Spanish hotel group has massaged its roots with an extensive renovation of Meliá’s first hotel in the country.

Meliá Hanoi recently completed an extensive makeover, renovating and revitalizing several key areas of the hotel, including the top suites, meeting and function areas, and fitness spaces. One of the most significant changes was a complete overhaul of all the property’s gastronomic offerings and restaurant interiors.

“The launch of our new dining concepts has positioned our hotel as a gastronomic hub in Hanoi,” says Santiago Cabre, general manager of Meliá Hanoi. “Given our Spanish roots, stellar cuisine and a just as impressive atmosphere to enjoy a meal or a drink are essential. With our new design and restaurant concepts we’ve created just that.”

In the lively lobby area, Garbo Bar draws inspiration from the golden era of ’50s Hollywood with its new sleek gold and emerald green bar counter and selection of classic cocktails. The Spanish touch endures with a delectable selection of tapas and Meliá’s signature Spanish-inspired afternoon tea.

Mosaico, Meliá Hanoi’s all-day restaurant deepens the hotel’s European heritage with Mediterranean cuisine on offer throughout the day and designs on becoming one of the best international breakfast buffets in the city. From delicately crafted pastries baked in-house to Spanish Iberico ham, and a healthy juice bar to more decadent dishes spanning a variety of cuisines, breakfast is a grand affair. New live cooking stations showcase culinary techniques in a modern, bright environment. A hanging garden and lush tropical plants feature throughout the space.

The former El Oriental Restaurant is set to emerge in October as Cham Restaurant serving sophisticated Cantonese dim sum and Asian noodle dishes in a hip, modern space. The new chef de cuisine, Madam Lê Minh Thái, has 27 years of experience in the craft of dim sum and Cantonese cooking. She has worked alongside a number of Chinese and Singaporean dim sum masters to perfect her skills over the last three decades and will bring that wealth of knowledge to each plate at the new restaurant.

A new concept that combines the best of a sophisticated cocktail bar and luxury barbershop, The Ministry of Men (part of the House of Barbaard group), also launched in the hotel in May. The masterfully mixed beverages and exquisite ambience provide the perfect place for cultivating connections and networking.

The top two keys, the Grand Suite, an opulent 135-square-meter space and the Presidential Suite, an elegant space coming in at 168-square meters, were both re-imagined with more contemporary, regal furnishings, a fresh colour palette of soft greys, taupe, creams and gold, new state-of-the-art entertainment systems, and floor-to-ceiling windows that make the most of the impressive city views.

The Level Meeting Room, available exclusively for The Level guests, has completely new furnishings, along with more ergonomic chairs and artwork. The larger MICE areas, including the Grand Ballroom and its dedicated pre-function area along with the Thang Long Ballroom, have new carpets, furniture, and a new interior design with a crisp white colour palette. The Function Room space, ideal for intimate meetings, now features an entirely new interior with nature-inspired panelling framing the space. Meliá Hanoi has some of the largest meeting facilities in the city with two ballrooms, 10 function rooms and a total capacity to host up to 1,200 guests.

The spacious open-air swimming pool has a new deck and the fitness center has been remodeled with new cardio equipment.

“Meliá Hotels International brings a wealth of leisure expertise to Meliá Hanoi to create the ideal bleisure hotel in the heart of this busy metropolis,” says Ignacio Martin, Meliá Hotels International managing director for Asia Pacific. “With the hotel’s unique location in the heart of the city and considering the growing interest in Hanoi as a tourist destination, Meliá Hanoi is positioned to be the perfect hotel for travellers looking to explore the capital’s culture and history, while also experiencing all the comforts of a 5-star international hotel.”

Hilton Singapore Orchard, the largest Hilton hotel in Asia Pacific, has launched its new meeting space, Smart Studio.

Strategically located on Level Eight, Smart Studio was designed to capture optimal city views and natural lighting, setting the stage for inspiring and productive gatherings. The name reflects its purpose: a state-of-the-art space tailored to meet the demanding needs of collaboration and content creation. Significantly, each room in Smart Studio offers seamless connectivity with all hotel event spaces like the Grand Ballroom, unlocking unprecedented opportunities for event planners and participants.

The Smart Studio bolsters Hilton Singapore Orchard’s positioning as the third largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) hotel venue in Singapore, further cementing its position as a top destination for business and events. With the addition of the Smart Studio, guests now have seamless access to a suite of accommodations from the hotel’s inventory of larger and more flexible room categories that were introduced early this year and the Grand Ballroom on Level Six, all of which are housed within the same tower of the hotel.

The five versatile function rooms are each sized approximately 60 sqm, together adding an additional 296 sqm to the hotel’s current total event space inventory of over 2,400 sqm.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Designed by Avalon Collective, who is also responsible for the contemporary and modern design for much of the hotel, Smart Studio boasts the right blend of avant-garde elegance and cutting-edge audio-visual technology.

Each room has integrated the latest audio-visual and meeting technology to ensure seamless outcomes for any programme or agenda. Importantly, each room’s 98-inch LED screens with video conferencing capabilities, the most advanced technology of any event space in Hilton Singapore Orchard, can seamlessly integrate into programmes anchored around the hotel’s ballroom facilities to deliver unparalleled flexibility and accessibility to event planners and participants engaged in breakout sessions.

This seamless level of connectivity between each meeting space demonstrates how the new Smart Studio complements and enhances Hilton Singapore Orchard’s ability to cater to events of varying sizes.

An elegantly designed communal lounge foyer that exudes a cosy, residential feel to make guests feel at home is also available for guests to engage in warm and meaningful conversations outside of the meeting rooms. It is also in this lounge area where guests

can find an always-on Butler’s Pantry stocked with healthy snacks and homemade beverages that participants can enjoy throughout the day. The pantry is also equipped with induction cookers for more elaborate culinary experiences, which can be tailored to the needs of the participants by the hotel’s culinary team.

Inviting Guests and Attendees to Connect

The Smart Studio’s namesake is inspired by the premise of studios being places for the study of an art and where creativity is celebrated. In that same vein, the designers took great care to ensure every design element, from fluted panels to the botanical-inspired colour tones, captured the essence of Hilton Singapore Orchard while maintaining a distinctive design that is special to this new and unique space where creativity can flourish.

Importantly, the hotel has kept a strong element of this being a uniquely Singapore space to help keep meeting attendees focused and grounded by knowing they are in a place unlike anywhere else. This is exemplified through the layout of the Smart Studio which not only spotlights the views, but also invites meeting attendees to experience a taste of Singapore’s remarkable heritage and teaches guests a little about Singapore’s local flower species with the names of each meeting room like Amaryllis and Frangipani.

Offering a Purposeful, Sustainable, and Carbon-Neutral Meeting Experience

Hilton Singapore Orchard has fully integrated Hilton’s Meet with Purpose programme into our operations, and the programme guides the hotel’s commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. Guests can discover how this programme can make their meetings and events unique, memorable, and impactful. Whether it is through initiatives to neutralise carbon dioxide emissions via carbon credits with ClimeCo or practices of food donation, the hotel offers options that make a positive contribution to our planet and communities.

In addition, the Hilton LightStay Meeting Impact Calculator empowers guests and event planners with insights into their event’s environmental impact, providing a customised estimate and suggesting ways to reduce their carbon footprint. This supports Hilton Singapore Orchard’s belief that every meeting or event held at the hotel should not only be a celebration of connection and collaboration but also an embodiment of our shared responsibility to protect the planet for future generations.

Hilton Singapore Orchard ensures that all guests enjoy an eco-friendly experience through energy-efficient technologies and a commitment to eliminating single-use plastics. Additionally, the property is proud to be the first hotel in Singapore to introduce an on-site water filtration system, which purifies and bottles premium drinking water in reusable glass bottles. These special considerations will continue to be woven into all events and experiences held at the hotel, including ones in the Smart Studio. In this way, each attendee of a business event at Hilton Singapore Orchard can be confident in the hotel’s commitment to reducing their environmental footprint.

“We planned and designed the new Smart Studio meeting space based on our insights into our business guests and their current and evolving needs,” says Cedric Nubul, general manager, Hilton Singapore Orchard. “The new space augments and amplifies our established large space capabilities – such as our ballrooms and our Smart Oasis meeting space on Level Five – and gives our guests new options to deliver a special experience to smaller- and mid-sized gatherings. We see growing demand for groups of up to 40 participants that could span pre-conference leadership meetings through to focused breakout sessions. Overall, this move positions us to meet the evolving needs and demands of event planners and businesses in Singapore and the thriving Southeast Asia region.”
